How the 2026 Academy Award Nominees Are Selected
Nominees are chosen by voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences across branches such as acting, directing, writing, and technical crafts. Members receive screeners and ballots, and votes are tabulated by an independent accounting firm. Final nominees are announced in January, with the ceremony following weeks later.
