Choose the Right Tampon

Start with a slender, applicator tampon with a light or regular absorbency. Wash your hands, and relax your muscles. A calm posture helps the muscles release, making insertion smoother and more comfortable.

Position and Insert

Sit or stand with one foot slightly raised. Hold the tampon with your thumb and middle finger on the grip, and index finger on the end. Gently separate the labia with your free hand, aim slightly toward the small of your back, and slide the applicator in until your fingers touch the body.

Push and Discard

Use the inner tube to push the absorbent part fully into the vaginal canal. The outer tube should stay outside. If you feel discomfort, the tampon may not be in far enough. Once in place, you should not feel it. Dispose of the applicator in a bin, not the toilet. For more details, visit the official tampon insertion guide at Tampax Insertion Guide.
