What Are Malcolm in the Middle Residuals
Malcolm in the Middle residuals are payments made to cast and crew each time the show airs in syndication, streams online, or is rebroadcast. These payments come from unions such as SAG-AFTRA and are based on reuse contracts negotiated when the series was produced.
How Malcolm in the Middle Residuals Are Calculated
Residuals are typically calculated from licensing fees paid by networks and streaming services. Actors receive a percentage of the fee for each qualifying window, such as cable reruns, digital platforms, and international broadcasts. Rates can vary depending on the contract tier and the type of use.
Who Earns Malcolm in the Middle Residuals
Principal cast members, guest stars, and eligible crew can earn Malcolm in the Middle residuals if their agreements include reuse provisions. Payments are often tracked and distributed by unions and guilds. For more details on SAG-AFTRA residual rules, see SAG-AFTRA residuals.
