What Is the National Book Award for Fiction Hardcover
The National Book Award for Fiction honors outstanding literary work by U.S. authors. The hardcover edition is the traditional print format released by publishers, often preceding paperback and digital versions. The award is administered by the National Book Foundation.
Eligibility and Selection Process
Eligible titles are typically published in hardcover within the award year. A panel of writers and industry professionals judges finalists and selects a winner based on literary merit. Publishers may submit titles, and judges evaluate narrative style, originality, and contribution to American literature.
