What Is Kingda Ka

Kingda Ka is a hydraulically launched steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey. It opened in 2005 and was designed by Intamin as the tallest and fastest coaster in the world.

Why Did Kingda Ka Close

On June 29, 2024, a severe thunderstorm caused significant damage to the ride's infrastructure. The storm brought high winds and lightning, which led to structural issues and safety concerns. After inspection, park operators determined the coaster could not safely reopen at that time.

Current Status and Future Plans

As of late 2024, Kingda Ka remains closed while repairs and assessments are underway. Six Flags has not announced a definitive reopening date. The ride's future depends on the extent of the damage and the cost of necessary upgrades.
